1.erupt vi. (指火山)爆发;突然发生

e.g.The volcano could erupt at any time.

3.equipmentn. a piece of equipment

e.g.The classroom is fully equipped. 装备齐全

We should equip ourselves with knowledge.

4.appoint vt. 任命;委派

to choose sb. for a job or apposition.

e.g.①The school has appointed a young teacher to take part in the meeting.

②She has been appointed (as) the captain of Chinese team.

③Mr. Chen has been appointed to the government.

5.evaluate vt. 评估;评价;估计

(consider sth. carefully to see how useful or valuable it is.)

e.g.The doctors are valuating the effectiveness of the different drugs.

We need to evaluate how well the plan is working.

 

6.burn to the ground 全部焚毁(completely destroy)

e.g.The house burned to the ground.

The house was burned to the ground.

 

7.wave n. 波浪;波涛

vi. 波动;起伏;挥手

9.absolute adj. 绝对的;完全的complete adj.

If the problem is potential, it means it is not a problem not yet, but it will become one in the future.

13.actual adj. 实在的;实际的/actually adv. =in fact/ in actual fact

e.g.I’m not joking. Those were his actual words.

 

14.precious adj. 贵重的;珍贵的

previous adj. 以前的,先前的

 

15. unconscious adj. 失去知觉的;未察觉的

unable to see, move, feel etc in the normal way.

I found her alive but unconscious.
