Period 1 New word study

1.rhyme n. ending in the same sound 押韵

e.g.I can find a rhyme for“cold”.

“Fold”rhymes with“cold”.

 

2.rhythm n. a regular repeated pattern of sounds or monuments (声音或运动的节奏,律动)

e.g.the rhythm of your heart-beat  你的心跳节律

 

3.convey vt. 传达;运送,传递

e.g.His tone conveyed a warning and anger.

他的声调无疑传出了警告的意味。

Please conveyed my best wishes to your parents.

请代我向她表示最良好的祝愿。

Your suitcase will be conveyed to the hotel by taxi.

你的行李将由出租车送到酒店。

 

4.concrete adj. 具体的

detailed /exact If sth. is concret, it means that can be felt and seen.

Do you have concrete information about the beautiful girl?(白板上此处标点有误)

What is a concrete object?

 

5.flexible adj. 灵活的;可弯曲的;柔顺的

if a person, plan etc that is flexible can be changed easily to suit any new situation

e.g.We can be flexible about your starting date.

关于你开始的日期我们可以灵活处理。

If sth. is flexible, it means it can be bent easily.

 

6.take it easy(adv.) 轻松,不紧张;从容

=take things easy

(to relax and not do very much)

(tell sb. to become less upset or angry)

e.g.The doctor says I’m going to have to take it easy for a few weeks.

医生说我得休息几个星期。

Just take it easy and tell us what happened.

别急,告诉我们发生了什么事。

11.dread  vi.& vt.  feel anxious or worried about sth. that is going to happen in the future

dread sth.=be worried about it

dread doing 害怕做某事

I’m dreading going back to work.

dread his father finding it out

dread sb. doing 害怕某人做事

I dread to think what I will look like when I am old.

 

12.minimum n. 最少量 最小限度

Looking after a horse costs a minimum of $ 2000 a year.

照料一匹马每年至少要花费2000英磅。

maximum n. 最大量,最大限度

temperatures will reach a maximum of 45℃.

温度最高将到45℃。
